Meet Gable + Finch!

When the year gives you a whole extra day what do you do with it? Open a new Etsy shop, of course!

Meet Gable + Finch - my new handcrafted accessory shop. I've been making jewelry for myself for twenty years and I'm so excited to finally share it with you! I want to bring sweet, timeless handcrafted loveliness to everyone.

The first collection features silver and glass pendants which encase some of my precious vintage quilting fabrics. I've been hoarding these lovely scraps for ages and love this way of displaying them so prettily.  They're the perfect dainty little accent for all your girliest outfits!

Because they're made from vintage (50s era) quilting cottons, only a limited number of each pendant are available.  Each one is cut from a different piece of the cloth, so each one is just a little bit different.  I think they make really great gifts for the special gals in your life.

Navy Polkadots

Navy Floral

Dainty Teal & Pink Floral

Teal & Cream Floral

Pink Polkadot

Dainty Pink Floral

Burgundy & Pink Floral

Pink & Rose Floral

This is just the start of the vintage-inspired treats I have planned for my new shop -- stay tuned for lots of embroidered, cross-stitched, and crocheted accessories in the near future!

Follow Gable + Finch on Instagram to keep up with what's new in the shop.

8-bit Jewelry - Where Geeky & Girly Meet

I'm so excited to introduce the first in a new line of fun, geek-inspired jewelry pieces for the shop! I get so many compliments on mine every time that I wear mine. This design sells out at every comic-con that we do. It's the perfect combination of geeky and sweet.

Inspired by the life meter from the early Zelda/Link games, this necklace is a subtle nod to the classic games of our childhood and makes the perfect gift for the fangirl or gamer in your life (or you!)

Get yours here!

Spring Sale at Weelittlestitches!

It's time for our annual Spring Sale (although it doesn't feel much like spring here in our little corner of Canada where there's still snow on the ground and the temperature is barely above freezing).  Still, the cold, wet weather is a good excuse to stay inside, stock up on patterns, and stitch something geeky!

There are plenty of new patterns to keep you busy - including some Game of Thrones, some Breakfast at Tiffany's, and lots of Pixel People Minis.

Save 20% on patterns in the shop using coupon code WOOHOO.  The sale continues through until the end of day, Friday, April 3rd, 2015.

Happy stitching!

New Pattern - Game of Thrones Cross-stitch

Every week we get dozens of emails requesting new patterns and suggesting ideas - we love hearing from you and learning which designs you want the most.  In four years of running our little shop I don't think any franchise has been more requested than Game of Thrones.  Seriously, I've gotten hundreds of emails asking for GoT patterns.  We're big fans of the show and the books and were more than enthusiastic to bring the beloved series in to the Pixel People family - the big question was HOW?  With dozens upon dozens of characters, most of whom don't live for very long, tackling patterns for GoT was an intimidating process!  We're very excited to bring you the first pattern in the installment - and what better way to start than with the Starks?

More GoT patterns will be rolling out over the next few months - and yes, we'll get to your favourite character soon!  In the meantime though, get the House Stark Pixel Person pattern here.

Happy stitching!

Save 30% on Cross-Stitch Patterns!

Summers here in Canada are so short we have to take advantage of every sunny, warm day we can!  My favourite way to do that is to take my latest project out on the patio, soak up the sun, and stitch the long, light-filled days away.  I honestly can't think of a better way to spend my short, short summer!

From June 20th - 30th you can save 30% on your pattern purchases using the coupon code SUMMER30 during checkout.  So take a pop over to the shop and stock up!

New Pattern - Adventure Time Pixel People

I'm really excited about our newest pattern release - it turned out even better than I could have hoped!  We're big, big Adventure Time fans at our house - it's just so weird and imaginative and wonderful that we can't help ourselves.  It was difficult narrowing down which characters to feature in the pattern and after many debates we decided on the Ice King (and Gunter!), Marceline the Vampire Queen, Finn the Human, Jake the Dog, Beemo, Peppermint Butler, Princess Bubblegum, and our personal favourite Lumpy Space Princess.

The pattern is available for instant download or, if you're not a stitcher yourself, you can pick up the finished stitching instead!

Cheers!

Doctor Who Eleven Doctors Pixel People Cross-stitch Pattern **UPDATED**

We're really excited to finally have an updated version of the Eleven Doctors pattern to offer you!  Of course, with all the amazing storylines introduced to the show this past year, there are no longer just Eleven Doctors - so the new pattern features The War Doctor played by John Hurt and the newest incarnation of our favourite Timelord debuted by Peter Capaldi.  If you're a Whovian (as we are) then you'll need the updated pattern for your collection.

If you already own the previous version of the Eleven Doctors pattern - now just called The Doctors - you can email us a proof of purchase (a forwarded copy of the download email, a screenshot of the Etsy purchase, or even a photo of the finished stitching - just something to prove that you bought the pattern previously) and we'll send you a copy of the updated pattern for free!

If you're a fan of the show (and let's be honest, why wouldn't you be?!) then you'll be pleased to know that we have two new Who patterns planned for March 2014 - another companions pattern and an epic Villains and Monsters pattern to stitch alongside all your Doctors!  We can't wait for you to see them so stay tuned.

We're All Sorts of Frozen Over Here!

Hi All!

Lots of things to update you on today!  Firstly, it's another cold and snowy day here in our little corner of Canada - it's certainly been an old-fashioned sort of winter at our house!  Complete with bone-chilling temperatures, gale-force winds, and two feet of snow -- all-in-all, it's the perfect weather for staying in and stitching.

This winter weather seems like it's never going to end, which leads us perfectly in to the next news we have!  I'm sure by now you've noticed that the movie Frozen is pretty much everywhere and for months we've been fielding emails and inquiries about when we'll be adding Disney's two new Princesses to our popular Pixel People line up... well the wait is finally over!!  The new, updated version of our Storybook Princess pattern is up in the shop!!

Don't worry if you already own the previous version of the pattern - just email us proof of your original purchase (be it your Etsy receipt, a screenshot of your 'purchases' on your Etsy account, a copy of your email from us, just something to prove you already bought the pattern) to weelittlestitches@yahoo.ca and we'll happily send you the new version FREE OF CHARGE.

Not only have we added Elsa and Anna to our existing Princess pattern, but we love them so much they qualify for a pattern of their very own! We think it's the perfect quick stitch to make for your sister as a gift!

It's also time for us to draw to see which two lucky stitchers won a free metallic floss bundle pack!

Here are our winners:

Congratulations CourtneAl and Bonney - just email us your mailing address and we'll get your gifts in the post next week!

This Week's New Pattern: Pixel People Princesses

We're really excited about this week's new pattern! For months now we've had customers asking us for more "little girl friendly" patterns - and while we think superheroes are also little girl friendly, I know that's not always the case.  This was such a fun pattern to design and stitch - I got to re-watch many of my favourite childhood movies, some of which I hadn't seen in more than a decade!  And I got to use a rainbow of delightfully bright and girly colours - a real change from the superhero palette of blues, reds, greys, and black that I'm used to.  I loved every moment of designing and stitching this pattern - it made me feel like a little girl again myself.

I've deliberately kept this pattern simple - there are no fractional stitches, only one french knot, and just a little bit of backstitching - so that you can use it to teach the princess lovin' little girl in your life how to cross-stitch.  So sit her down with some floss and fabric and her favourite princess and give her the tools to create a lifetime long love with a calming and satisfying hobby!

Want to see the whole thing?   Yeah, I thought you might...

The pattern is for personal use only and is available for instant download here.

Pixel People Big Bang Theory Pattern Updated!

When we first designed our Big Bang Theory pattern there were only five main characters on the show: Howard, Raj, Penny, Leonard, and of course, Sheldon... but as the show has progressed more characters have been added - we adore both Bernadette and Amy Farrah Fowler (I can never just call her Amy without wanting to add her last name!) and we felt the pattern just wasn't the same without having them in it...

There are a lot of people out there who already own the Big Bang Theory pattern - if that's you, don't despair!  There's no need for you to rush out and purchase the new pattern - just email us proof of your original purchase (be it your Etsy receipt, a screenshot of your 'purchases' on your Etsy account, a copy of your email from us, just something to prove you already bought the pattern) to weelittlestitches@yahoo.ca and we'll happily send you the new version FREE OF CHARGE.

New Pattern Round-Up

We've certainly had a busy few months this autumn!  The shop is bustling, we hit our 10,000th sale, Chris got a promotion at the zoo (to Assistant Head Keeper - I call him "Number Two"), and we bought our first house.  In amongst all that craziness we did manage to also launch two new pattern lines and a ton of new patterns.  In case you missed any of them, here's a round-up of our latest releases:

Pixel People In Love - quick, cute stitches - perfect for your sweetie!

The Quoteable Pixel People - for when you have a wee little something to say

And if none of those are quite right - you can combine any Pixel Person with the quote of YOUR choice for the ultimate in pattern customization!

Our Ever Popular Pixel People Patterns

And do, on occasion, have Non-Pixel People Related Patterns:

That should be enough stitching to keep you busy well in to 2013 when we'll be releasing a bunch of new patterns - including Walking Dead, Arrested Development, the Wizard of Oz, Gone With the Wind, and many of your favourite bands and musicians.

Happy Holidays and Happy Stitching!  xo J&C

How To Redeem Coupon Codes on Etsy

We love having sales in the Etsy shop!  It's great that Etsy gives us the option of deciding how much of a discount to apply to transaction which the customer can utilize for themselves when they're shopping - it means we don't have to manually change the price of every single one of our listings (all 100+ of them) every time we want to have a sale.  But using coupon codes during the checkout procedure can be confusing for customers who've never used them before - so here's our little tutorial on how to redeem coupon codes in any shop!

Firstly, fill your cart with all the items you wish to purchase during that transaction.  You'll be directed to the checkout page every time you add a new item - if you want to buy more than one item in a transaction just click the grey "keep shopping" button on the top right-hand side of the screen and shop until your heart's content.

Once you've added all the items you want to purchase stay on the checkout screen.

Hit "apply coupon code"

See that line of blue text which says "apply shop coupon code"?  Just click on that and a little blank box will open up.  Type in the coupon code provided by the shop owner and hit "Apply".

Type in the coupon code - spelling counts!

If the coupon code is still in effect (and if you've spelled it properly) Etsy will tell you the percentage that you've saved and then break down the exact dollar amount for you.  If you don't see these options then either the coupon code has expired because the sale is over or you've misspelled the code - once you get it right you can hit the green "Check out with Paypal" button and Etsy will walk you through the remainder of the transaction.

That's all there is to it!

New in 2012

I consider myself a very lucky girl.  Not only am I married to a swell guy who seems to enjoy my quirkiness (oddly), but together he and I have a small business we love.  Aaaannnnd I get to do that business full-time now.  Really, I couldn't ask for anything better.  My favourite part about being full-time?  We've been able to release a new pattern in the shop almost every week!  Considering we were averaging a new pattern every 6 or 8 weeks before I was full-time, I consider this a real coup.  But unless you're me, it's tough to keep up with what's new in the shop - so I'm rounding up 2012's new releases in to one spot to make it easy!

Here are 2012's new patterns so far:

Modern Alphabet Sampler

The Golden Girls

Star Trek - the Original Series

Hot Fuzz

Paul

Batman Enemies 2

The Fantastic Four

So much stitching, so little time :)
